As defined by the Interagency Security Committee (ISC), a Facility Security Committee (FSC) is responsible for approving and implementing best security measures and practices. An FSC consists of representatives of all federal tenants in a facility, the security organization, and the owning or leasing department or agency. For information related to FSCs, please contact your Field Servicing Security Office.

Federal Security Certification Training

Federal employees and contractors who participate in the ISC risk management process are required to complete training within 90 days of assignments. This includes all personnel representing an organization on a FSC and any individuals making or advising on risk management decisions in single tenant facilities. The course may also be valuable for executives, managers, and personnel involved in facility funding, leasing, and security.

The training must be completed, at a minimum, once every 5 years. Options for fulfilling this requirement are:

• Federal Security Certification Virtual, Instructor Led Training (VILT)
  • Virtual training is held over two half-days and is an instructor-led course covering the ISC Risk Management Process and the roles and responsibilities of the Facility Security Committee. The course is offered at no cost to participants and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Federal Security Certification In-Person Training
  • In-person training is a half-day, instructor-led course covering the ISC Risk Management Process and the roles and responsibilities of the Facility Security Committee. The course is offered at no cost to participants and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
