PIV Card Services

Requesting a Personnel Identity Verification (PIV) card at the Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB) follows a specific process.

HR sponsors may request permanent PIV cards for employees by emailing the Security Service Center (SSC) at security@doc.gov or through SSC appointments. HR Sponsors may escort employees to the SSC to enroll for PIV cards. Employees should bring two forms of government-issued identification, including one with a photograph.

Contracting officer representatives (CORs) may request a PIV card or Facility Access Card (FAC) for contractors by emailing a request to piv-contractor@doc.gov. The SSC will contact the COR or contractor to complete the enrollment process. The COR may escort contractors to the SSC.

More information on obtaining PIV cards or FACs for contractors is available on Commerce Connection.

All PIV cards, PIV-I cards, and FACs must be returned by the cardholder when HCHB access is no longer required. The separation process for employees and contractors leaving the HCHB is not complete until identification cards are accounted for.

Lost or Stolen Cards

For lost or stolen cards, please email the SSC at security@doc.gov.

More information on HSPD-12 credentialing is available on the OSY website.
