Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships

In January 2001, the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (OFBNP) was established by the Bush Administration. The office was revamped by the Obama Administration and re-established by the Biden Administration in February 2021. OFBNP is one of the offices within the Office of the Secretary of Commerce and is one of 13 agency Offices of Faith-Based and Community Partnerships under the White House.

Mission and Vision

The Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships is one of the connection points between community-based organizations and the bureaus within the Department of Commerce.  We work to promote impactful partnerships focused on job creation and economic growth between businesses and community- and faith-based organizations.

As the connection point, the OFBNP aims to engage and learn directly from community organizations as well as faith leaders on a state-by-state basis. In doing so, we enhance our ability to amplify and connect communities with bureaus so they can engage and learn about bureaus’ activities, announcements, and resources  (i.e., funding opportunities, training, technical assistance, and other Commerce services).

It is our goal to help connect communities to programs that promote the creation of equitable jobs, enhance access to innovation centers and high-speed Internet connectivity, entrepreneurship training, technical assistance, grants, and increased business growth.

Agency Partners

To achieve our vision, the OFBNP has strategically partnered with the various bureaus here at the Department of Commerce. Through this partnership, we can help connect communities and faith leaders with bureau opportunities and resources available at the Department of Commerce, including community-specific data, entrepreneurship training, business development opportunities, access to innovation centers, technical assistance, and community development grant opportunities, among other services.
