Readout of Secretary Raimondo’s Meeting with the Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, alongside Chief Economist for the Invest in America Cabinet and Member of the Council of Economic Advisors Heather Boushey, and Deputy Chief of Staff at the National Economic Council Sean Christiansen, updated the Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness (ACSCC) on the Biden-Harris Administration’s supply chain priorities and initiatives. They also discussed industry-government collaboration on supply chain resilience work and recent progress made on ACSCC recommendations.

During the meeting, Secretary Raimondo highlighted key supply chain priorities for ACSCC inputs including implementation of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) Supply Chain Agreement, supply chain diversification efforts in India, and broadening impacts of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce)’s National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). Secretary Raimondo also highlighted the work of Commerce’s recently established Supply Chain Center. The Supply Chain Center, housed within the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) Industry and Analysis business unit, harnesses big data and advanced analytics to make the U.S. government more strategic and proactive in strengthening supply chains.

Boushey and Christiansen shared updates on the Administration’s efforts to address current supply chain challenges and mitigate future issues while Secretary Buttigieg underscored the U.S. Department of Transportation’s work to strengthen America’s transportation and logistics networks as well as data-sharing initiatives. In addition, other U.S. government representatives provided updates to the ACSCC during the meeting. They included: Grant Harris, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis; Pravina Raghavan, NIST Director of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program; Neema Singh Guliani, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services; and Pamela Phan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia.

Secretary Raimondo and Secretary Buttigieg thanked the members of the ACSCC for their continued collaboration to advance shared supply chain priorities. The ACSCC is the Secretary of Commerce’s chief advisory body that provides recommendations to support U.S. supply chain and economic competitiveness.
