FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, Susie Feliz was sworn-in as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, following a Senate confirmation by unanimous consent. In this role, Feliz will advise the Secretary on legislative issues, congressional relations and the Department’s relationships with state, county, Tribal, and municipal governments.

“Susie brings a wealth of experience crafting legislation and building meaningful stakeholder relationships that will strengthen the Commerce Department’s work as we implement President Biden’s agenda,” said Secretary Raimondo. “Susie will play a crucial role supporting the Commerce Department’s mission to improve the competitiveness of American businesses and workers and extend economic opportunity to all communities. I’m excited to have Susie join the team during such a critical time for our department.”

“It’s an honor to join a Commerce Department working at the forefront of President Biden’s efforts to make America more competitive, more prosperous, and more equitable,” said Assistant Secretary Feliz. “I am incredibly humbled by the trust placed in me by Secretary Raimondo and Department leadership to fulfill the duties of this role. I look forward to working with the Secretary and the dedicated public servants at the Department to implement programs aiding in our nation’s economic recovery and protecting our economic standing in the world.”

Prior to her confirmation, Feliz served as Vice President for Policy and Legislative Affairs at the National Urban League. Before joining the Urban League, Feliz served as an aide to former U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and as legislative director to Representatives Joe Baca of California, Al Green of Texas, and Karen Bass of California, and led the Congressional Hispanic Staff Association. A graduate of the University of Denver, Feliz earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the George Washington University.
