COVID-19 Information Hub

Welcome to the Department of Commerce COVID-19 Information Hub!

On April 12, 2024, President Biden issued an Executive Order concerning COVID-19 and Public Health Preparedness and Response. The order revoked E.O. 13991, which was issued on January 20, 2021, and related to Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask Wearing.

Although we will continue to support ongoing and future efforts to maintain a safe and healthy federal workplace and ensure preparedness, this web page will no longer be updated. For archival purposes, this web page is preserved as it existed on May 13, 2024.

DOC COVID-19 Masking Policy

Based on the latest CDC Considerations for Wearing Masks, you can expect:

  • In low or medium-risk areas, in most settings, DOC employees, contractors, and visitors do not need to wear a face mask in public indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status. In the event local or other recognized requirements exceed Agency or Federal guidance, the more stringent protocols will be observed. Please note, that you may wear a mask in low or medium-risk areas based on your personal comfort levels.
  • In high-risk areas, all DOC employees, contractors, and visitors are required to wear a face mask in public indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status.

Please be aware, on a weekly basis, the COVID-19 Internal Task Force assesses risk metrics for the appropriate counties to determine the appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols. Should the risk metrics change for your county, you can expect to receive a communication from your Bureau at the end of each week detailing the appropriate safety protocols for the subsequent week.

For more information, please contact your leadership or visit the CDC COVID-19 Community Level Tool and CDC Considerations for Wearing Masks.
