Who We Are

About Us

The Office of Acquisition Management (OAM) has two principal areas of focus: Acquisition and Financial Assistance at the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). OAM has five functional areas that support these focus areas which include Program Management, Analysis, Risk, Workforce Development and Oversight.  

OAM oversees the Department’s acquisition activity and develops and implements acquisition-related regulations, policy, and guidance.  This includes managing Departmental acquisition workforce training, development, certification, and warrant programs; implementing government-wide acquisition initiatives; conducting compliance and oversight reviews; and managing the Department’s charge card program. 

OAM develops, implements, and oversees Departmental administrative and operational regulations, policies, and procedures for financial assistance programs. This includes providing technical assistance on regulations, policies, and procedures for the administration of financial assistance.

Support the Department of Commerce by providing comprehensive and timely policy, guidance, analysis, and oversight that enables bureaus and program offices to apply innovative solutions to achieve their goals.

Logo Stories

OAM Office Logo (above left):

This logo will be used as the main identifier of the Office of Acquisition Management. Elements of the logo include the Eagle for national scope of activities, the DOC Lighthouse for transparency, scales for balance, and shaking hands representing deal/agreement making. ​ 

The blue denotes uprightness and constancy, and the gold represents transparency. The Latin term "Valores" inscribed on the banner means values and represents the values of OAM which are humility, excellence, integrity, inclusivity, and collaboration.​

One OAM Logo (above right): 

One OAM is a major program initiative for OAM to create a united team across the five functional areas supporting our two principal areas of focus. Elements of the logo include seven pieces of twine that represent the five functional areas of OAM (in gold) and the two principal areas of focus (in two shades of blue) and are connected to form a strong and united basket weave design. ​ 

The blue denotes procurement, principal focus area 1, the light blue denotes financial assistance, principal focus area 2, and the gold denotes the five functional areas of program management, analysis, risk, workforce development and oversight.
