Readout of Secretary Raimondo’s Participation in the Meeting of the President’s Export Council

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo participated in a meeting of the President’s Export Council (PEC) convened by Chair Mark Ein and Vice Chair Rosalind Brewer to discuss their recommendations to the President on ways to grow exports and position the United States as a global leader in the climate and clean tech, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors. Joined by other senior Biden-Harris Administration officials, including Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, and Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers Jared Bernstein, Secretary Raimondo shared updates and actions taken in response to the Council’s recommendations on a variety of topics, including export controls and artificial intelligence. Primarily, Secretary Raimondo announced plans to re-establish the President’s Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration (PECSEA), which was a recommendation made by the private sector PEC members in June 2023. PECSEA will be a critical forum to gather insight from key stakeholders to ensure U.S. export control policies meet America’s national security imperatives and advance U.S. technological leadership.
