Yesterday, Secretary Gina Raimondo held meetings with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi. Secretary Raimondo thanked both Ministers for Japan’s leadership on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). In particular, the Secretary and Ministers discussed the importance of the work within IPEF to make supply chains more resilient, diverse, and secure. The Secretary and Ministers agreed on the importance of delivering meaningful outcomes and benefits for IPEF Partners’ workers and businesses.
