High-Speed Internet for All

Many communities in America lack access to high-speed Internet, and beyond access issues, many families can't afford service. President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provided an historic investment of $65 billion to ensure every American has access to reliable, affordable high-speed internet. Today, every state and territory across the nation has signed on to the Internet for All Initiative and committed to connecting their communities to reliable high-speed Internet through the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) and Digital Equity Act programs. These programs are administered by the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).

As part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo recently announced allocations for $42.45 billion in BEAD funding to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five territories to deploy affordable, reliable high-speed Internet service to everyone in America. This funding will be used to equip everyone with access to high-speed internet and the benefits it brings, including education and training, a global market for buying and selling goods, remote working tools, and getting the health care they need from anywhere at any time.

“What this announcement means for people across the country is that if you don’t have access to quality, affordable high-speed Internet service now – you will, thanks to President Biden and his commitment to investing in America,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo at last week’s announcement.

Details related to the allocation for the states, D.C., and territories are available on InternetForAll.Gov.
