Join the 2023 Earth Day Photo Challenge

The photos above from left to right were submitted in previous Earth Day Photo Challenges by Joyce H., USPTO; Charlotte M., NOAA; Krishnan M., USPTO; Carl N., NOAA; and Jack L., NOAA.

The Office of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Programs (OSEEP) is excited to bring back its virtual Department of Commerce Earth Day Photo Challenge!  This year’s theme is “Investing in our Planet”—whether that means participating in a beach cleanup, planting a tree, or composting kitchen scraps, we want to see how Commerce employees invest in the world around them.  Choose an existing photo from the past year or get outside and take a new one!  Featured photos will appear in OSEEP publications, including the Earth Day newsletter, which will be posted on the Commerce blog.

Submissions should include: 1) Commerce employees and/or their families; and 2) demonstrate action to support the environment.  The Photo Challenge is open to all Department employees and onsite contractors. Limit one photo submission per employee. Previous years’ participants are encouraged to participate again with a new photo.

Submission instructions:

  1. Ensure your submission meets the requirements listed above.
  2. Download and complete the submission link below.
  3. Save your form and photo in the following format: Operating Unit_Name (for example: “NOAA_Jane Smith).
  4. Email your photo and form to syardley@doc.gov with the subject “Photo Challenge Submission”.
