Call for 2022 Sustainability, Energy, and Environmental Ambassador Nominations

The photo above was submitted by Lydia Wasmer, NOAA, in the 2022 Earth Day Photo Challenge.

The Department of Commerce is calling for nominations for the fifth annual Sustainability, Energy, and Environmental (SEE) Ambassadors program.  The SEE Ambassadors program recognizes individual Departmental employees for outstanding performance in implementing exceptional projects and/or programs helping the Department meet sustainability, energy and water reduction, clean energy, climate change adaptation, resilience, and/or environmental performance goals.

Who is eligible?

This recognition program is independent from the Department’s Annual Energy and Environmental Stewardship Awards and is offered as an alternative way to highlight individual achievements of Department of Commerce employees. The SEE Ambassadors program is not currently offered to contractors. The Department will make selections for recognition when the individual has gone above and beyond typical day-to-day responsibilities to help achieve mission success, including staff who may not otherwise receive such recognition through the Departmental or the Federal awards program.

Nomination details

The Office of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Programs (OSEEP) is now accepting nominations for accomplishments that occurred between October 1, 2021, through July 15, 2022.  Nominations for the 2022 recognition program are due by July 15, 2022, and must highlight the efforts of one individual, not a team.  To nominate a Departmental employee for this special recognition, download the form below and send it to Sarah Yardley at syardley@doc.gov by July 15, 2022.

Special recognition

The 2022 SEE Ambassador awardees will be announced in August and will receive a certificate honoring their commitment to sustainability, energy and water reduction, clean energy, climate change adaptation, resilience, and/or environmental performance.  In addition, the awardees will be featured in OSEEP’s newsletter and in a Commerce-wide broadcast email.

* Deadline extended from June 30 to July 15, 2022.
