Session 5: Proactive Approaches to Addressing Workplace Conflict

The focus for July will be on introducing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a principle for addressing various types of conflicts that occur in the workplace.

Meeting Details

Where: Virtual, Microsoft Teams Meeting

When: Tuesday, July 2, 2024, 10:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m. ET

Conflict in the workplace may be inevitable. When conflict is effectively resolved, it can lead to personal and professional growth. Conflict that is festering, unresolved, escalating, or destructive, however, can harm our sense of psychological safety in the workplace.

Join OCR as it welcomes Arthur Pearlstein, Director of Arbitration, and Senior Mediator, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) for July’s lunch-and-learn. In this session, Mr. Pearlstein will explore the nature of workplace conflict; ways to handle it positively and productively, even when dealing with difficult behaviors; styles of approaching conflict; and how to best discover and serve the mutual interests of those involved. He also will provide a series of specific tips and guidance on handling conflict and achieving win-win solutions.

For questions about this session, or if you would like more information, contact Laura Soria at [email protected]. To request reasonable accommodations, including sign language interpreting, please contact the Office of Civil Rights at [email protected]
