Brian D. DiGiacomo

Assistant General Counsel for Employment, Litigation and Information

Brian DiGiacomo has been with the Department of Commerce Office of the General Counsel since June 1991, and is currently the Assistant General Counsel for Employment, Litigation, and Information.  Before becoming the Assistant General Counsel in 2017, he served in OGC as the Chief of the Employment and Labor Law Division, the Chief of the General Law Division, and the Department’s Senior Counsel for Fiscal Law.  He has received the Department of Commerce’s Gold and Silver Medals for his accomplishments.  Brian also served from 1983 to 1991 in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  Among his many assignments, he served as an Assistant to the Army General Counsel, providing fiscal law and policy advice to the Secretary of the Army and his staff, and in the Office of the Judge Advocate General, advising on the Army’s administration of the military criminal justice system.  In addition to his policy work at the Pentagon, he has represented the Government extensively in labor and EEO matters, and has significant criminal trial (felony prosecution) and defense appellate experience.  He also served as the Editor of The Advocate for the Military Defense Counsel, a monthly publication for military counsel, distributed world-wide. 

Brian obtained his J.D. degree from Syracuse University in 1982, and was the Lead Articles Editor, Syracuse University Journal of International Law and Commerce.  In 1979, he received his B.S. degree (magna cum laude) in Economics from St. Bonaventure University and was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate.  In addition to local charity work, he volunteers his time as a director of his community homeowners association and the Joey Sudo Memorial Fund, Inc.  He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Department of Commerce Federal Credit Union.  He is a member of the D.C. and New York State bars.
