Open Government

The principles of transparency, participation, and collaboration are inherently aligned with the Department of Commerce's mission to create the conditions for economic growth and opportunity for all communities.

The Department carries out its programmatic responsibilities through its 14 Bureaus and Operating Units (BOU) (Sub Agencies).  Each BOU, through their distinct missions, are driving Open Government through initiatives that range from improving patent processing to developing sustainable and resilient fisheries, from transforming service delivery to businesses, to expanding international markets for U.S. firms, and from creating scientific and technological innovation to advancing measurement science.
