    Privacy Program - Developing and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, and guidance essential to safeguarding the collection, access, use, dissemination, and storage of personally identifiable information (PII) and Privacy Act information in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, the E-Government Act of 2002, the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), and policy and guidance issued by the President and Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
  • Open Government Program
    Open Government Program - Developing and maintaining Open Government policies, procedures, and guidance essential to implementation and integration of Open Government across all departmental business lines. The objective of Open Government is to make government more transparent, participatory, and collaborative to the public.
  • FOIAOnline Decommissions - September 20, 2023

    Privacy Act Program - Providing operational oversight of the Department's Privacy Act (PA) program and processes to ensure bureau and operational compliance with PA regulations; developing Department policies, regulations, procedures, and guidelines dealing with the PA; managing all aspects of PA disclosures; serving as principal contact and reviewer, clearance coordinator, and publisher of PA system of records notices (SORNs) and providing advice and assistance on PA matters.

Office of Privacy and Open Government

The Office of Privacy and Open Government (OPOG) is part of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary for Administration (CFO/ASA) and reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration. The CFO/ASA's authority is delegated through Department Organization Order 20-31, Chief Privacy Officer and Director of Open Government.

Misson Statement:

To further this goal, the Department assigns a high priority to privacy considerations in all systems, programs, and policies.
