WORKPLACE SPACE DESIGN STANDARD

SECTION 1. PURPOSE.

Revocation of Department Administrative Order (DAO) 217-22, Workplace Space Design Standard, which established the office workplace sizing processes for the design of the Department of Commerce's office space.

DAO 217-22 as previously written was too prescriptive for a policy document and was more appropriate as a planning guide. DAO 217-21, Space Allowance and Management Program established the overarching utilization policy for the Department of Commerce (DOC) and was modified to incorporate one section of DAO 217-22 (Section 25-Workstations). The remainder of DAO 217-22 will be provided as a planning guide and reference tool for DOC Operating Units on the Office of Real Property Programs website, along with links to General Services Administration's (GSA) Workplace Plus guidance - https://www.gsa.gov/governmentwide-initiatives/total-workplace. Therefore, DAO 217-22 is hereby revoked.
