THE SEAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

Number:

DAO 201-17

Effective Date:

2021-08-05

SUBJECT

Revocation of Department Administrative Order (DAO) 201-17, The Seal of the Department of Commerce, dated March 17, 2008.

STATEMENT OF THE ISSUE

When DAO 201-1, the Department of Commerce (the Department) Seal, Request for a New or the Use of the Department's Seals, Emblems, Insignia and Logos, was last updated in May 2008, the revisions re-stated policy doctrine also found in DAO 201-17, The Seal of the Department of Commerce, dated May 2008. There have been changes to the process and forms associated with DAO 201-1 and DAO 201-17 since 2008, prompting another revision. During this revision, it was identified that the instruction and information included in DAO 201-17 is no longer necessary, as DAO 201-1 adequately details the instructions for use and approval of the Seal of the Department of Commerce. This revocation will reduce redundancies and create a single source policy document for matters related to the use of Departmental Seals, Emblems, Insignia and Logos.
