Reid Hoffman is Executive Chairman of LinkedIn Corporation and a Partner at Greylock Partners.
In 2003, he co-founded LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional networking service, in his living room in Mountain View. Today, LinkedIn has more than 260 million members in 200 countries and territories around the world. Reid led LinkedIn through its first four years and to profitability as CEO.
In 2009, Reid joined Greylock Partners. His investments include Airbnb, Edmodo, Mozilla (Firefox), Shopkick, Swipely, Wrapp, Coupons.com, Groupon, and Viki. Prior to Greylock, Reid personally invested in dozens of internet companies including Facebook, Flickr, and Zynga. Reid focuses on the consumer Internet broadly, particularly marketplaces, networks, and platforms.
Prior to LinkedIn and Greylock, Reid served as executive vice president at PayPal, where he was also a founding board member. At PayPal he was responsible for all external relationships, including payments infrastructure, business development, international, government and legal. Reid was instrumental to PayPal’s acquisition by Ebay and responsible for partnerships with Intuit, Visa, MasterCard and Wells Fargo.
Reid is an active philanthropist. Reid serves on the boards of Kiva.org, Endeavor, and DoSomething, among others. Reid also co-authored the #1 New York Times bestseller The Start-Up of You: Adapt to the Future, Invest in Yourself, and Transform Your Career, about how every individual can apply the principles of entrepreneurship to their own life.
Reid earned a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar, as well as a Bachelor’s degree with distinction in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.
