Kurt Bersani

Deputy Director
Kurt Bersani

Kurt Bersani serves as Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Enterprise Services. He has been part of the ES team since the inception of the organization and has responsibility for operational oversight, budget and financial management, administrative management, and Congressional and OMB affairs.

Mr. Bersani has been with the Commerce Department for nearly three decades. During his tenure with ES, he has also concurrently served as acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration, Director of Headquarters Human Resources, and Director of the Department’s Executive Resources.

Chief AdmiPrior to joining ES, Mr. Bersani served as CFO, Deputy CFO, and nistrative Officer at the International Trade Administration. He also served as acting Deputy Chief Information Officer for International Trade.

In one of his most rewarding assignments, Mr. Bersani served as acting Director of Human Resources at the U.S. Census Bureau where he oversaw a major hiring initiative that added nearly 400 staff to the Census Bureau in less than six months. 

Mr. Bersani began his federal career at the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) where he joined the Commerce workforce as an economist. While working with the BEA team of GDP economists, Mr. Bersani became Deputy Associate Director of one of the economics programs, and then took the helm as HR Director for BEA. He ultimately became BEA’s Chief Administrative Officer, overseeing finance, budget, Congressional affairs, and administrative management of the Bureau.

Mr. Bersani holds bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Economics and a master’s degree in International Development and Economics.
