Gutierrez Says Immigration Reform Essential for Economic Growth

Washington (May 15)—At the National Press Club, Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez delivered keynote remarks to the National Retail Federation and later spoke to reporters on the status of comprehensive immigration reform negotiations. The Secretary said the effective assimilation of immigrants has been America's competitive advantage in the global economy and that reform was essential to secure our borders while continuing to welcome immigrants. (Speech)
